Design Tips For Your Products & Services Page

Everyone who designs their business website has some crude concept of what to put on a “Products & Services” page.  The specifics are where most designers fall short.  Simply filling the area of your website with a bunch of pictures and prices does not constitute a great page design.

There is an art to designing a great products and/or services section on your business website, and it pays to do the research.  Start now, and read through this brief article, highlighting some of the most pivotal aspects of a well-designed “Products & Services” page.

Naming your products and/or services page

It is just fine to name your page a traditional name like “Products & Services,” but it is also perfectly acceptable to get a little more creative with your titling.  It is not required that you name this page anything in specific, but a few naming guidelines may help direct your creativity.

You have options.  You may want to separate the two, and create a page for your “Products” and another page for your “Services.”  This products page example shows in the navigation bar that the designer chose to make a separate page for the products and the services of the company.

Writing out your product and/or service descriptions

Writing out an impactful product or service description is a powerful tool for drawing in the viewer.  If you can pique a person’s interest by writing a stellar description, then you’re one step closer to turning a profit.

First and foremost, you want your product descriptions to stay brief.  Stick to the basic selling points of your product or service.  Answer a few obvious inquiries about the product or service, and lead to a more descriptive page destination to encourage further visitor engagement.

Integrate your call to action

The more descriptive elements of your “Products & Services” page should be prefaced with a strong “call to action” button.  It’s a small, yet powerful, tool.

Adding a button underneath your brief product or service description that uses the phrase “more info” or “click for more” will naturally lead visitors to click.

Add social media sharing buttons

Make sure to include social media share buttons on each description/page for each product, so visitors can easily share a product with their friends.  Integrating social media into the design of your website is an excellent way to expand your brand’s visibility.

Use only high quality images and videos

Product descriptions should always come equipped with a visual representation of the item or service.  Only use high quality images and/or videos on your website, as sites with quality visuals rank higher in the SERPs.
